Kayla Gerdes is a flutist with more than 12 years playing experience and 5 years private instruction. She's completing her Bachelor of Arts degree at Brock University majoring in Music with a Concentration in Music Education and a minor in Psychology. Kayla has a passion for classical flute and piano. She teaches flute and piano at Thorold Music Quarter Note Music Arts.
As a member of the Music Ed Plus program at Brock University, Kayla participates in co-op opportunities that include the Niagara Symphony Orchestra Summer Camps, the Niagara District School Board elementary music education programs, and Music Therapy application placements. Additionally, Kayla performs locally in various woodwind ensembles in the community of Niagara and Greater Toronto Area.
Kayla is a Burlington Teen Tour Band Alumni and has performed around the world including the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California; Disneyland, Magic Kingdom in both California and Japan; sunrise ceremony at Pearl Harbour's USS Missouri and USS Arizona, Hawaii; and tours throughout Boston, Mass. She has performed as 1st flute in a fund-raising concert with Orchestral Zeppelin.
